AT A GLANCE

Three weeks. One file. No interview.

The checklist, the timeline, the portal and the biometric centre — the whole application on one ledger before a single form is opened.

VISA ASSISTANCE DESK · UNITED KINGDOM

Prepared, checked and filed — end to end.

The UK Standard Visitor visa is applied for entirely online at GOV.UK — the only official portal, with no paper form and no consular interview. After payment, you give fingerprints and a photograph at the VFS Global centre at Punjagutta Metro Station, and UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) decides the application on the papers alone.

Our desk prepares, checks and files that application end-to-end: the GOV.UK form, the fee payment at checkout, the VFS appointment booking, the document upload and tracking until your passport is back. Westin Travel is an independent travel agency — we are not affiliated with any embassy, consulate or government department.

MANDATORY DOCUMENTS

The file UKVI will read.

There is no interview to explain a missing page. Everything UKVI knows about your trip is what this file tells it.

A UK visitor application is decided entirely on paper. Nobody meets you, nobody phones you as a rule — a UKVI officer reads what you upload and rules on it. A weak employer letter, a travel plan that contradicts the form, an untranslated document: each one reads as a doubt, and doubts become refusals.

So the file has to be right before it goes in. Bring these documents to our Nanakramguda (Khajaguda) desk or send scans on WhatsApp — we check every page against current GOV.UK guidance, flag the weak ones, and put the upload in order before your biometric appointment.

MANDATORY · ALL APPLICANTS

  • Current passport, valid for your whole UK stay, with at least one blank page for the visa vignette
  • Completed GOV.UK online application and the appointment confirmation (with barcode) from VFS
  • Visa fee payment confirmation
  • Financial evidence showing you can fund the trip — see the financial documents section below
  • Proof of occupation and ties to India: employer letter on letterhead stating role, salary and approved leave; business registration or GST documents if self-employed; school or college NOC or bonafide letter for students
  • Travel plan: purpose of visit, rough itinerary and where you will stay — confirmed bookings are not required, and GOV.UK advises against buying non-refundable flights before the decision
  • If visiting family or friends: invitation letter from your UK host, plus a copy of their passport, BRP or visa status and proof of address
  • Previous passports showing travel history — helpful, not compulsory
  • Certified English translations of any document not in English

Your passport travels with the application. After biometrics, it normally stays with VFS/UKVI until the decision. If you need it in between, the Keep My Passport While Applying service can be bought at the VFS centre.

FINANCIAL DOCUMENTS

How to show the money.

UKVI sets no minimum balance — it wants funds that are genuinely yours, proportionate to the trip, with a visible origin. Find your profile below.

Salaried
  • Bank statements of your salary account — GOV.UK fixes no number of months, but statements must not be issued more than 1 year before you apply; in practice Indian applicants submit the last 6 months
  • Recent payslips, typically the last 3–6 months, matching the salary stated in your employer letter
  • Income Tax Returns for the last 2–3 years — not officially mandated by GOV.UK, but routinely submitted by Indian applicants and widely expected
Self-employed
  • The last 6 months' statements of the accounts your income actually moves through, showing the origin of funds
  • Income Tax Returns for the last 2–3 years, consistent with your business registration or GST documents
  • Fixed deposits, property or investments can supplement the file — but not replace liquid bank funds
Retired
  • The last 6 months' savings account statements, showing your regular credits and the origin of funds
  • Income Tax Returns where you file them, as proof of income
  • Fixed deposits, property or investments can supplement the file — but not replace liquid bank funds
Sponsored — someone else pays
  • A sponsorship or support letter from whoever funds the trip — parent, relative or your UK host
  • Proof of your relationship with the sponsor
  • The sponsor's own bank statements or payslips, showing they can afford it
Every profile — how UKVI reads the funds
  • Funds should be proportionate to the trip cost and genuinely yours — there is no official minimum figure
  • A large unexplained deposit parked shortly before applying is a classic refusal trigger, not a strength
  • Never submit fake statements, ITRs or invitation letters — proven deception brings a 10-year ban from the UK

HOW IT WORKS

Three steps between you and the vignette.

We prepare & file on GOV.UK

Send your documents to our Nanakramguda (Khajaguda) desk or on WhatsApp. We prepare your Standard Visitor application on GOV.UK — up to 3 months before travel — you pay the UKVI fee by card at checkout, and we book your free biometric appointment at VFS Global, Punjagutta Metro Station. Slots go fast in the April–July peak, so we book early.

Biometrics at Punjagutta

Your supporting documents are uploaded on the UKVI/VFS portal before the appointment — or scanned at the centre for a VFS charge. You attend with your passport and appointment letter; all 10 fingerprints and a digital photograph are taken. There is no interview, and children attend too — under-16s with a parent or guardian.

Decision & passport back

UKVI's official standard is 3 weeks from biometrics; the optional priority service targets 5 working days — we track the file throughout. You get an email from UKVI, then collect your passport from VFS or receive it by courier. Check the vignette's dates, spelling and visa type with us before booking final travel.

WHY WESTIN

A desk that files it right the first time.

UKVI rules on the papers alone — there is no interview to rescue a weak file. Our job is a file that never needs rescuing.

  • Documentation expertise — every statement, letter and translation checked against current GOV.UK guidance before it is uploaded
  • Appointment handling — the GOV.UK application filed correctly, the fee paid at checkout, and your VFS Punjagutta slot booked before the peak-season queues build
  • Tracking end-to-end — upload, biometrics, decision email and passport collection followed until the vignette is checked page by page
  • One desk, one number — a single point of contact in Hyderabad from first checklist to passport in hand

PLEASE NOTE

  • Westin Travel is an independent travel agency — not the British High Commission, UKVI or any government body.
  • Visa approval is at the sole discretion of United Kingdom authorities and is never guaranteed.
  • Processing timelines may vary, and can exceed 3 weeks in peak season.
  • A visa does not guarantee entry into the UK — the final decision rests with Border Force at the border.

FAQ

Asked at the desk, answered here.

The appointment, the timeline, the ETA mix-up and the bank-balance question — the six things Hyderabad applicants ask most.

What happens at the biometric appointment at VFS Punjagutta?

Your supporting documents are uploaded on the UKVI/VFS portal before the appointment, or scanned at the centre. You attend with your passport and appointment letter; all 10 fingerprints and a digital photograph are taken, and there is no interview — under-16s attend with a parent or guardian. After biometrics, your passport normally stays with VFS/UKVI until the decision.

How long does a UK visitor visa take in Hyderabad?

The official standard is 3 weeks from your biometric appointment at the VFS centre, and most Indian applications are decided within that window. If you are in a hurry, the priority service targets 5 working days. You can apply up to 3 months before your travel date, which is the safest approach in the summer rush.

Where is the UK visa application centre in Hyderabad?

VFS Global runs the UK Visa Application Centre at the Lower Concourse of Punjagutta Metro Station (8-2-340/1, Punjagutta, Hyderabad 500082) — it moved there from Banjara Hills. You go there only for fingerprints, photo and document submission after applying online. There is no interview at the British Deputy High Commission.

Can Indian passport holders get the UK ETA instead of a visa?

No — this is a common mix-up. The UK's Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) is only for nationals who do not need a visa, such as US or Gulf citizens. Indian passport holders must apply for the full Standard Visitor visa with biometrics, even for a short holiday or transit through the UK in most cases.

How much bank balance is required for a UK tourist visa?

There is no official minimum figure. UKVI wants to see that you can comfortably cover your trip — flights, stay and daily costs — from funds that are genuinely yours, so roughly the trip cost plus a healthy buffer, shown across about 6 months of bank statements. A large sum suddenly parked in your account just before applying often causes refusal, not approval.

Is the UK visitor visa multiple entry, and can I use it for repeat trips?

Yes — the 6-month Standard Visitor visa is normally multiple-entry, so you can leave and re-enter within its validity. Frequent travellers can take the 2, 5 or 10-year long-term visa, with each stay capped at 6 months. But you cannot effectively live in the UK through back-to-back visits — Border Force tracks cumulative time and can refuse entry.
