A US visitor application is decided mostly on the DS-160 and a few minutes at the interview window — but the folder still has to be complete on the day.
The DS-160 is the real application. Every answer on it — down to the social-media identifiers and the travel-history questions — is on record, and the officer's questions at the window are checked against it. A folder full of statements cannot rescue a form filled in carelessly.

- Passport valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay, with at least one blank page — carry all old passports and any previous US visas

Biometrics at the Visa Application Center, HITEC City Metro Station, Madhapur — usually at least a day before the interview — then the interview itself at the U.S. Consulate General, Nanakramguda. If I get a 10-year US visa, can I stay in America for 10 years?
No — this is a common misunderstanding. The 10-year validity only means you can travel to the US during that period; the immigration officer at the airport decides each stay, normally up to 6 months per visit. Overstaying can cancel the visa and bar future travel.
Where do I give biometrics for the US visa in Hyderabad?
Fingerprints and photo are taken at the U.S. Visa Application Center at the Lower Concourse, HITEC City Metro Station, Madhapur — usually at least a day before your interview. The interview itself is at the U.S. Consulate General in Nanakramguda, Financial District (it moved there from Paigah Palace in 2023).
Can I renew my US visitor visa from Hyderabad without an interview (dropbox)?
Only in limited cases since September 2025: your previous B1/B2 must have been full-validity and expired within the last 12 months, you must have been 18 or older when it was issued, you must apply in India in the same category, and you must have no visa refusals. Even then, the consulate can still call you for an interview. Everyone else, including children and senior citizens, now needs an in-person interview.
