CANADA VISITOR VISA ASSISTANCE · HYDERABAD DESK

Canada visitor visa agent in Hyderabad — the TRV file, built to survive the officer's notes.

A Temporary Resident Visa filed online on the IRCC portal, fingerprints at VFS Banjara Hills, and a passport that goes in only once the decision is made. There is no eTA shortcut for Indian passports — the file has to carry the case.

AT A GLANCE

Online file, one fingerprint visit, one passport visit — and an officer who reads everything.

Channel, biometrics, timing and the stages where the passport leaves your hands — the facts that shape a Canada visitor visa, set out before you send a single page.

VISA ASSISTANCE DESK · CANADA (TORONTO, VANCOUVER, MONTREAL, CALGARY)

Prepared, checked and filed — on the IRCC portal.

Indian passport holders need a Temporary Resident Visa for any visit to Canada — tourism, family or business, by air, land or sea — and the application is online only, on the IRCC Portal or an IRCC secure account. That is the desk's role: we work through the eligibility questionnaire with you, build the personalised document checklist it generates, prepare the IMM forms and the evidence of funds and ties, and file the application — named as your representative on form IMM 5476 where you want that, or alongside you on your own account. After submission IRCC issues a Biometric Instruction Letter; you give fingerprints and a photo at the VFS Global Canada Visa Application Centre in Banjara Hills, and the passport goes to VFS only when IRCC asks for it.

Westin Travel is an independent travel agency — not affiliated with any embassy, consulate, immigration authority or government. Every decision rests with the IRCC officer alone; VFS collects documents, enrols biometrics and returns passports, and makes no decisions. A government processing fee and a biometrics fee apply, quoted at the desk.

VISA TYPES

Four routes. Two of them matter to a Hyderabad family.

Most Hyderabad travellers go on the visitor visa. Parents staying for a year or more need the super visa. The eTA is not open to Indian passports, and the transit visa is for airport changes only.

Visitor visa (TRV), single or multiple entry

The standard route for tourism, family visits and business, and the one most Hyderabad files go out on.

  • Mandatory for Indian passport holders for any visit, by air, land or sea
  • Each entry normally allows a stay of up to 6 months — the border officer sets the actual date on arrival
  • Since IRCC's programme-delivery update of 6 November 2024, a maximum-validity multiple-entry visa is no longer the standard document: the officer decides case by case whether to issue single or multiple entry and sets the validity, weighing purpose, funds, ties, status and home-country conditions
  • A multiple-entry visa cannot outlast the passport or the applicant's biometrics, whichever ends first
  • Shorter and single-entry visas are now common for first-time Indian visitors — plan the trip, not a decade of trips
Super visa for parents and grandparents

A separate stream for the parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens, permanent residents and registered Indians under the Indian Act — and, with the Parents and Grandparents sponsorship programme closed to new applications from 1 January 2026, the main long-stay route.

  • Stays of up to 5 years per entry; multiple entry, valid up to 10 years
  • The host must be 18 or over, living in Canada, sign an invitation letter listing the family members, and meet the minimum necessary income — a table by family size, which changes yearly; a spouse or common-law partner may co-sign, no other relative may
  • Since 31 March 2026 the host may use either of the two preceding tax years, and the visiting parent's own income may top up a shortfall — confirm the current table at the desk
  • The applicant needs an immigration medical exam and paid-up medical insurance: at least CAD 100,000 of emergency cover (health, hospitalisation, repatriation), valid for at least 1 year from entry, from a Canadian insurer or a foreign insurer on the OSFI list — quotes are not accepted, and the policy must be shown at the border
eTA — not available to Indian passports
  • IRCC's eTA-expansion list (page dated 27 July 2026) covers 17 countries; India is not on it
  • A valid US visa or a past Canadian visa does not let an Indian citizen fly on an eTA — a TRV is still required
  • India was briefly on the list in 2023; do not rely on old blogs or forum posts
Transit visa (airport changes only)
  • Indian citizens changing planes at a Canadian airport need a Transit Visa — airside, 48 hours or less, no visa fee
  • A stop over 48 hours, or leaving the airport, needs a visitor visa instead
  • India is not in the Transit Without Visa or China Transit programmes; anyone holding a valid TRV may transit on it

Holding a US visa? It helps the file as travel history, and nothing more — an Indian passport still needs the visitor visa, filed and decided in full, before any flight to Canada.

HOW IT WORKS

Three stages between you and the counterfoil.

The file and the checklist

We start with the IRCC eligibility questionnaire, which generates your personalised document checklist, and build the file to it: IMM 5257 for each applicant, IMM 5645 Family Information for everyone aged 18 or over, IMM 5476 if the desk is to act as your representative, and IMM 5475 for release of information. Around the forms go the evidence the officer actually reads — six months of bank statements with salary credits visible, income-tax returns or Form 16, an employment letter, a purpose-of-travel letter with a day-wise itinerary, and proof of your ties to India. Every field is checked against the passport before submission, and the processing and biometrics fees are paid by card at that point.

Biometrics at VFS Banjara Hills

After submission IRCC issues a Biometric Instruction Letter. Book promptly — the letter states a 30-day window, confirm at the desk — and allow 3 to 7 days to secure a slot. Fingerprints and a photo are taken at the VFS Global Canada Visa Application Centre, Road No. 12, Banjara Hills, Monday to Friday 09:00–17:00, by appointment only. The biometrics stay valid for 10 years and are reused automatically for later visitor, study or work applications. If your last Canadian biometrics are under 10 years old, this stage falls away — but no visa can be issued beyond their expiry.

Decision and passport request

IRCC's clock starts on a complete application and excludes the biometrics stage; its tool showed about 30 days for India at the 1 October 2026 update, so we say about four to six weeks for most files and check the tool when we quote. On approval your IRCC account shows a passport request letter. You submit the same passport used in the application to VFS Hyderabad by appointment, IRCC counterfoils it and VFS returns it — typically 5 to 15 working days, two to four weeks in some reports. A newer passport delays processing and does not lengthen the visa, and travel is not possible until the visa is in the passport.

DOCUMENT CHECKLIST

Documents you'll need.

A Canada visitor visa is decided on paper, without an interview in most cases — the officer sees only what the file shows. Gather these, and our desk checks each one against IRCC's own checklist before anything is uploaded.

Most Canada refusals are not about a missing form. They are about an officer who was not satisfied that you would leave at the end of the stay — and who reached that view from thin bank statements, a vague itinerary, no travel history, or a family already settled in Canada with nothing shown to pull you home. The forms are the skeleton; the evidence of funds, purpose and ties is the case.

That reading is our job before it is theirs. Send the documents in this checklist and we build the file to IRCC's specification — the right IMM forms, a photo to the digital standard, statements that explain themselves, and a purpose letter that matches the itinerary — so nothing reaches the officer unexplained.

MANDATORY · ALL APPLICANTS

  • Passport valid for the whole stay — IRCC advises at least 6 months beyond the planned travel — with at least one blank page besides the last page; old passports too, for travel history
  • IMM 5257 Application for a Temporary Resident Visa, one per applicant; IMM 5645 Family Information for each applicant aged 18 or over; IMM 5409 if common-law; IMM 5476 if the desk files as your representative; IMM 5475 for release of information
  • Digital photo to IRCC specification — a 35 × 45 mm frame with the head 31–36 mm, plain white or light background, full-front view, taken within the last 6 months; the digital minimum is about 420 × 540 px, confirm at the desk
  • Proof of funds — personal bank statements for the last 4 to 6 months (IRCC asks for at least 6) with salary credits visible; fixed deposits, PF and mutual-fund statements, property papers; a sponsor letter if someone else is paying
  • Income-tax returns or Form 16 for the last 2 to 3 years
  • Purpose-of-travel letter and a day-wise itinerary; hotel bookings and tentative — not paid — flights
  • Travel history — prior visas and entry and exit stamps; US, UK, Schengen or Australian history helps, and any past refusal is explained honestly
  • Ties to India — employment, property, family left behind, children's school letters, business obligations
  • Government fees — a processing fee per person (the same for single or multiple entry, with a family maximum) and a biometrics fee (individual and family caps), paid by card at submission; VFS adds a service charge and optional courier, SMS or lounge fees; all quoted at the desk

Your passport stays with you until IRCC asks for it. Nothing is submitted physically at filing — the passport goes to VFS only at the passport-request stage, after the decision, and it must be the same passport the application was made on.

EXTRA DOCUMENTS · BY PROFILE

Salaried employees
  • Employment letter on company letterhead stating designation, salary, tenure and sanctioned leave for the travel dates
  • Bank statements in which the salary credits are visible month on month — the officer reads the pattern, not the closing balance alone
  • Form 16 or income-tax returns for the last 2 to 3 years
Self-employed, retired and students
  • Self-employed — GST or firm registration, business bank statements and income-tax returns, with the business obligations that bring you back set out in the purpose letter
  • Retired — pension proof alongside the personal bank statements
  • Students — a bona fide certificate and a no-objection certificate from the institution
Visiting family — the invitation
  • A signed invitation letter from the host stating the relationship, their address, the duration of the visit and who pays
  • The host's status — citizenship or PR card, or study or work permit
  • The host's recent notice of assessment, pay slips or employment letter, and a lease or ownership proof for the home you will stay in
  • Proof of the relationship — birth or marriage certificates
Parents and grandparents on a super visa

Everything in the mandatory list, plus the host's side of the file and two things no other visitor needs.

  • Host 18 or over and living in Canada; a signed invitation letter listing the family members; proof of the host's citizenship, PR or Indian Act registration
  • Host income at or above the minimum necessary income for the family size — either of the two preceding tax years since 31 March 2026, with a spouse or common-law partner co-signing if needed and the parent's own income topping up a shortfall; the table changes yearly, confirm at the desk
  • An immigration medical exam for the applicant
  • Paid-up medical insurance — at least CAD 100,000 of emergency cover for health, hospitalisation and repatriation, valid at least 1 year from entry, from a Canadian insurer or a foreign insurer on the OSFI list; a quote or a broker's certificate is not accepted, and the policy is shown at the border
Children
  • Each child is a separate application with its own IMM 5257, photo and fee
  • A consent letter from the non-travelling parent or parents when a child travels with one parent or without either
  • Documents must be in English or French — anything else needs a translation and an affidavit

TIMELINES

A clock that starts late and stops early.

IRCC's published figure excludes the biometrics stage and the passport stage. Here is what the tool has shown through 2026, and how long the door-to-door really takes.

  • What the tool measures — the 80th percentile, counted from a complete application, excluding the time you take to give biometrics; updated weekly
  • November 2025 to February 2026 — 83 to 99 days for India
  • Spring 2026 — 71 days in late February, 57 days in March, 49 days on 20 March
  • September to early October 2026 — 29 to 32 days, with 30 days at the 1 October 2026 update
  • What we say — about four to six weeks for most files, checked against the tool at quotation; longer if an interview, a medical or extra documents are requested
  • When to apply — 2 to 3 months before travel, earlier for the peak months of May to August and December

DOOR TO DOOR · REALISTIC

  • Biometrics slot — 3 to 7 days to secure an appointment at VFS Banjara Hills, inside the 30-day window on the instruction letter (confirm at the desk)
  • IRCC decision — 4 to 6 weeks typical
  • Passport request — submission to return via VFS in 5 to 15 working days, two to four weeks in some reports
  • Flights — tentative, not paid, until the counterfoil is in the passport

Times moved fast in 2026. The India figure fell from 99 days to about 30 inside eight months, and it can move the other way just as quickly — confirm current timings at the desk before you book anything non-refundable.

THE OFFICER'S REASONING

One question decides the file: will you leave?

Section 179(b) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations asks the officer to be satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay. Most refusals of Indian visitors are written on that one line.

The officer is not asking whether you can afford the trip, or whether your sister really lives in Toronto. The question is whether the file, read as a whole, shows a person with more reason to come home than to stay — and the answer is assembled from purpose, funds, ties, travel history and the family you have in Canada. A strong file does not argue the point; it demonstrates it, with a job that has granted leave, a property, children in school, a business with obligations, and a bank history that shows a settled life rather than a lump sum deposited last month.

The climate has hardened. The 2026–2028 Immigration Levels Plan reduces temporary-resident volumes; IRCC's global visitor-visa refusal rate was 51% in 2025, up from 39% in 2023, and the 2026 year-to-date approval rate stood at 54% in February 2026. IRCC publishes no per-country rate, but industry estimates put Indian refusals above 50% in 2025, and IRCC data reported in June 2026 showed only 355 of 1,225 Indian applications for the FIFA World Cup were granted. Processing times fell sharply through 2026 as relations thawed; the scrutiny did not ease with them.

WHAT WEIGHS · FIVE THINGS

  • Purpose — a plausible, specific itinerary that reads as a temporary stay, with the host's invitation matching it
  • Funds — balances and income consistent with the stated travel, with no unexplained lump-sum deposits
  • Ties to India — employment, property, dependants and business obligations, evidenced rather than asserted
  • Travel history — prior visas and stamps, especially US, UK, Schengen and Australian, with past refusals declared
  • Family in Canada — a spouse or children already there weighs against you unless the ties at home outweigh it

Single entry is not a failure. Since 6 November 2024 the officer sets the entries and validity on your profile; a first-time traveller often receives a shorter or single-entry visa, and a clean trip on it is the best evidence for the next file.

WHY FILES ARE REFUSED

Eight reasons a Canada visitor visa comes back refused.

There is no appeal for a visitor visa. These are the patterns the desk sees in officers' notes — and screens for — before a file goes out.

  • Section 179(b) — the officer is not satisfied the applicant will leave Canada at the end of the stay; the ground behind most refusals
  • Purpose of visit not consistent with a temporary stay — a vague or implausible itinerary
  • Assets and financial situation insufficient for the stated travel — unexplained lump-sum deposits, low balances
  • Limited or no travel history outside India
  • Weak family or economic ties to India against strong family ties in Canada — a spouse or children already there
  • Concerns over current employment or immigration status
  • Misrepresentation — fake documents or an undisclosed refusal — which brings a 5-year ban
  • An incomplete application, or a missed biometrics deadline

AFTER A REFUSAL

  • No appeal — visitor visas carry no right of appeal
  • Read the notes — since 29 July 2025 IRCC sends Officer Decision Notes with most visitor-visa refusals; applicants who filed on the new Portal request their GCMS notes by ATIP through a Canadian contact instead
  • Reapply — the usual route: a fresh application, filed immediately if you wish, with new evidence addressing each factor the officer cited
  • Reconsideration — from the same office, only for a clear factual error in the decision
  • Federal Court — judicial review within 60 days through a Canadian lawyer; rarely worthwhile for a tourist file
  • Biometrics — remain valid for the reapplication

PLEASE NOTE

  • Westin Travel is an independent travel agency — not an embassy, consulate, immigration authority or government body. We prepare and file visitor-visa applications on the IRCC portal as your representative where you ask us to, under form IMM 5476.
  • Never submit altered bank statements or a fake employment letter. Misrepresentation brings a 5-year ban, and an undisclosed past refusal counts as misrepresentation.
  • Do not buy non-refundable tickets before the visa is in the passport. Under the 2025 regulatory amendments and Bill C-12 (Royal Assent 26 March 2026) an officer may cancel an issued visa case by case, and Cabinet may cancel, suspend or pause groups of documents in the public interest — no such order has targeted India.
  • Submit the same passport used in the application at the passport-request stage. A newer passport delays processing and does not lengthen the visa.
  • Super visa insurance must be paid for, not quoted, and from a Canadian insurer or one on the OSFI list — a broker's certificate is not accepted.
  • VFS and IRCC never phone asking for payments. Only canada.ca and the VFS Global site for Canada are official; beware look-alike 'Canada visa' websites.
  • Visa approval is at the sole discretion of the IRCC officer. No agency can guarantee, influence or speed up the decision. A visa is not a guarantee of entry — the border officer sets the length of each stay and makes the final decision.
  • Processing times, the VFS building and the super visa income table change. This page is informational and current to October 2026; confirm at the desk before booking non-refundable travel.

FAQ

Asked across the desk.

The six questions every Canada applicant in Hyderabad asks — the US-visa shortcut, the 10-year visa, timing, fingerprints, parents' long stays and refusals.

I have a valid US visa. Can I fly to Canada on an eTA?

No. India is not on IRCC's eTA-expansion list (17 countries as of July 2026). Indian passport holders need a visitor visa even with a US visa.

Will I get a 10-year multiple-entry visa?

Not automatically. Since November 2024 the officer decides single vs multiple entry and the validity on your profile; first-time travellers often receive shorter or single-entry visas.

How long does a Canada visitor visa take from Hyderabad?

IRCC's tool showed about 30 days for India in September and October 2026 (it was 83 to 99 days in early 2026). Add biometrics booking and one to three weeks for passport stamping, so apply two to three months ahead.

Do I need to give fingerprints again?

Only if your last Canadian biometrics are more than 10 years old; otherwise they are reused, but your visa cannot be valid beyond their expiry.

My parents want to stay a year with my sister in Toronto. Which visa?

The super visa: up to 5 years per entry, with host income proof, a signed invitation, a medical exam and one year of CAD 100,000 emergency medical insurance from a Canadian or OSFI-listed insurer.

I was refused. Can I appeal?

There is no appeal for visitor visas. Read the officer's notes, fix the cited weakness (funds, ties, purpose) and reapply; reconsideration or Federal Court review is only for clear errors.
