HOLIDAY PACKAGE · HYD → ZRH
Switzerland holiday packages from Hyderabad.
Lakes, glaciers and railways that climb above the clouds — Switzerland, sequenced by train and planned from Hyderabad.
AT A GLANCE
The trip, on one ledger.
Summer brings roughly 18–28 °C in the valleys, long daylight, open hiking paths and lake cruises, and it coincides with Indian school holidays. December to February is for snow: reliable cover in the Alps, Christmas markets and winter sports, with shorter days and cold cities. Spring and autumn are quieter but some high routes and panoramic trains pause for maintenance.
WHAT THE DESK ARRANGES
Flights, stays, transfers and paperwork — one booking.
Switzerland rewards a slow, well-sequenced itinerary. Trains run to the minute, distances are short, and a single rail pass carries you from Zurich's lakefront to Lucerne's covered bridge, the Jungfrau glaciers above Interlaken and the Matterhorn at Zermatt. Most of the country's celebrated views are reached by public transport, not by road.
From Hyderabad the journey is a single overnight connection through a Gulf or European hub, and Indian passport holders need a Schengen visa arranged in advance. Our desk in Nanakramguda handles the visa file, rail pass, mountain excursions and travel insurance, so the itinerary you see below is the one you actually travel.

7–9 nights, day by day.
A starting point, not a fixed route — every departure is reshaped around your dates, pace and travellers before anything is booked.
- DAY 1
Arrive Zurich
Land after an overnight one-stop flight and take the short train into the city. Ease in with a walk from Bahnhofstrasse to Lindenhof hill, the twin towers of the Grossmünster and the lake promenade, then an early night to reset your body clock.
- DAY 2
Zurich to Lucerne
A train of under an hour brings you to Lucerne. Cross the wooden Chapel Bridge past its Water Tower, wander the painted Old Town and the Lion Monument, then spend the afternoon on a Lake Lucerne cruise, which the Swiss Travel Pass covers.
- DAY 3
Mount Titlis
The Luzern–Engelberg Express takes 43 minutes. From Engelberg, cable cars climb in stages to Titlis at 3,020 m, the last aboard the revolving Rotair. Walk the Cliff Walk suspension bridge, step into the glacier cave and stand on snow before returning to Lucerne.
- DAY 4
Lucerne to Interlaken
Two hours on the Luzern–Interlaken Express, over the Brünig Pass and past a chain of mountain lakes. In Interlaken, the ten-minute funicular to Harder Kulm at 1,322 m lines up the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau above Lakes Thun and Brienz.
- DAY 5
Jungfraujoch
Train to Grindelwald Terminal, the Eiger Express gondola to Eigergletscher in fifteen minutes, then the Jungfrau Railway to Europe's highest station at 3,454 m. See the Aletsch Glacier from the Sphinx terrace and the Ice Palace, then descend via Kleine Scheidegg and Lauterbrunnen.
- DAY 6
Interlaken to Zermatt
About two and a quarter hours by train, changing at Spiez and Visp and passing through the Lötschberg Base Tunnel. Zermatt is car-free, so electric taxis meet the train. Spend the afternoon on the Gornergrat Railway to 3,089 m, facing the Matterhorn.
- DAY 7
Zermatt to Zurich Airport
Allow around four hours by rail to Zurich Airport for the flight home. With a spare day, ride the Glacier Express eight hours to St. Moritz instead, over the Landwasser Viaduct and through the Rhine Gorge; seat reservations are compulsory.

Four things worth the flight.

Getting in. Indian passport holders need a short-stay Schengen visa before travel, lodged through VFS Global for the Swiss embassy, with a standard processing time of 15 calendar days once the file reaches the consulate and longer in peak season, so our Schengen visa desk builds the file, books the appointment and tracks it until your passport returns.
GOOD TO KNOW
Before you pack.
- Swiss Travel Pass: sold for 3, 4, 6, 8 or 15 consecutive days, it covers trains, buses and lake boats nationwide, admits you to more than 500 museums and gives 25 to 50 per cent off most mountain railways; Rigi, Stanserhorn and Stoos are fully included, and children under 16 travel free with a parent's pass.
- Pack for two climates. Valleys sit around 18–28 °C in summer while Jungfraujoch and Titlis hover near freezing, so carry a warm jacket, gloves, sunglasses and sunscreen; drink water at altitude and take the first hour above 3,000 m slowly.
- Most shops close on Sundays; the exceptions are at railway stations, airports and petrol stations, so do supermarket runs on Saturday. Tap water is safe everywhere and public fountains are free to refill from.
- Vegetarian and Indian food is easy to find in Zurich, Lucerne and Interlaken, and nearly every restaurant has a vegetarian dish. Panoramic trains such as the Glacier Express need a separate seat reservation even with a pass, and the Glacier Express pauses from mid-October to early December for maintenance.
FAQ
Asked at the desk, answered here.
Do Indian passport holders need a visa for Switzerland?
Yes. Indians need a short-stay Schengen visa, valid for up to 90 days in any 180-day period, lodged through VFS Global and decided by the Swiss embassy in New Delhi. Standard processing is 15 calendar days once the file is with the consulate (the embassy quotes 10 to 15 working days), so apply four to eight weeks ahead and no earlier than six months before travel. Passports are no longer stamped; the Schengen Entry/Exit System records your arrival and departure digitally.
Summer or snow: when should we go?
June to August gives clear mountain days, green valleys, boats on every lake and the widest choice of trails, and it fits Indian school holidays, though trains and viewpoints are busy. December to February gives the postcard version: snow in the villages, Christmas markets and sledging, but with short days and cities that can be grey. Whichever season you choose, the high viewpoints above 3,000 m stay wintry all year.
How many days do we need?
Seven nights covers Zurich, Lucerne, Interlaken and Zermatt with one summit excursion at each base and no rushed transfers. Nine nights adds the Glacier Express to St. Moritz or a slower day in the Lauterbrunnen valley. Anything under six nights means dropping either Zermatt or the Jungfrau region; we would rather you see two regions properly than four from a train window.
Is this a honeymoon route or a family route?
Both, with different pacing. For a honeymoon we lengthen the stays in Zermatt and Interlaken, time the Gornergrat and Harder Kulm visits for late afternoon light, and add the Glacier Express. For families we keep Lucerne as a two-night base for Titlis and the lake, choose the Eiger Express route to Jungfraujoch for the shorter day, and lean on the Swiss Travel Pass so children under 16 travel free with a parent.
