SCHENGEN · FRANCE · FROM HYDERABAD
France visa agent in Hyderabad — the Schengen file the Bengaluru consulate expects.
France is the Schengen country most Hyderabad travellers apply to, and the one that rewards a well-built file with multi-year visas. Here is how a France file is lodged from Hyderabad, what the consulate adds to the standard checklist, and how our desk prepares it.
AT A GLANCE
Lodged in Hyderabad, decided in Bengaluru.
The Consulate General of France in Bengaluru decides every file from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Hyderabad applicants lodge at the VFS Global centre at Punjagutta Metro Station; the file is couriered south, so allow two to three extra working days on top of the decision time.
WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT FRANCE
An online account first, and a consulate that reads itineraries closely.
France does not use TLScontact in India; VFS Global runs every French visa centre in the country, including Hyderabad. Before any appointment you create a France-Visas account, complete the form online and print its receipt, because VFS books and checks the file against that receipt and the document list the France-Visas assistant generates for your exact purpose.
The Bureau de France that opened in Hyderabad in 2024 handles consular help and cultural liaison, not visas. Decisions for India are taken only by the embassy in Delhi and the consulates in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Puducherry, and for Hyderabad that means Bengaluru.
Start my application →THE FRANCE CHECKLIST
What this consulate asks for, beyond the standard Schengen file.
The nine standard documents are on our Schengen visa page. These are the items France adds or reads more strictly.
A France file starts online and ends on paper. The France-Visas account produces the form, the receipt and a document list tailored to your purpose of travel, and the VFS officer at Punjagutta checks your pile against that list rather than against a generic Schengen checklist.
Our desk completes the France-Visas form with you, prints the receipt, books the Punjagutta appointment and assembles the file in the consulate's order. Where you are staying with family or friends in France, we start the host's paperwork first, because it has to exist before the appointment.
FRANCE ASKS FOR
- A France-Visas online account, the completed form and its printed receipt with the FRA reference, which VFS requires at the counter
- The document list generated by the France-Visas assistant for your purpose of travel, with every item ticked
- A signed cover letter stating purpose, dates, who pays and who travels with you
- Proof of accommodation for every night in France and the rest of the Schengen area
- For a stay with a private host: the original attestation d'accueil, applied for by the host at their town hall and validated before your appointment; the town hall can take days to weeks, so it starts first
- Bank statements for the last three months, stamped by the branch, with income-tax returns or Form 16 for the last two years; confirm the exact months at the desk, as the list varies by profile
- Three months of salary slips and an employer letter approving the leave dates; registration and business statements for the self-employed
- Copies of every previous Schengen visa, which is what earns the one-, three- or five-year sticker
HOW IT WORKS
Three stages between you and the sticker.
The same three stages as any Schengen file, with the France-Visas account and the host's paperwork added at the front.
Account, form, checklist
We create the France-Visas account with you, complete the form, print the receipt and build the file to the list the assistant generates. Hosted stays start with the attestation d'accueil at the host's town hall.
Appointment at Punjagutta
We book the VFS slot on the official calendar, eight to twelve weeks ahead for summer travel, and run a document check the day before. At the centre you give fingerprints and a photo unless yours are under 59 months old, and pay the official fee in rupees by card.
Decision in Bengaluru, passport back
The file is couriered to the consulate, which normally decides within 15 calendar days, extendable to 45. We track it online and tell you when the passport is ready for collection at Punjagutta or courier delivery.
RULES WORTH KNOWING
What France does differently.
- Multi-year visas: France is widely reported as the most generous Schengen post for Indians who have used two or more previous Schengen visas correctly, issuing one-, three- and five-year visas under the EU cascade in force since 2024.
- The alumni visa: Indian graduates holding a master's degree or higher who studied at least one semester in France can request a five-year short-stay circulation visa with proof of the degree and enrolment.
- Volume: France is India's largest Schengen issuer and, because of that volume, also the largest refuser by count. The Bengaluru consulate handled around fifty thousand Indian applications in 2024.
- Airport transit: Indian ordinary-passport holders no longer need an airport transit visa for French airports since April 2026; confirm at the desk for your routing.
- The border: the EU's Entry/Exit System records face and fingerprints at the first Schengen airport, fully operational since 10 April 2026. Allow extra time at Paris Charles de Gaulle in summer.
WHY FRANCE FILES COME BACK REFUSED
- Itinerary that does not match the hotel bookings, or hotel bookings that were cancelled after the appointment
- Bank statements without a branch stamp, or a large deposit shortly before applying with no explanation
- A hosted stay without a validated attestation d'accueil
- Doubt about the intention to return: a new job, no leave letter, few ties shown
- A France-Visas form that contradicts the passport or the cover letter
Westin Travel is an independent visa assistance desk. The decision rests with the consulate; no agency can guarantee a visa, and the official fee is not refunded on refusal.
FAQ
Asked across the desk.
Does Hyderabad have a TLScontact centre for France?
No. France uses VFS Global throughout India. Hyderabad applicants lodge at the VFS centre at Punjagutta Metro Station, after completing the form on the France-Visas website, and the Consulate General of France in Bengaluru decides the file. Our desk completes the online form with you and books the Punjagutta appointment.
Can I go to the Bureau de France in Hyderabad for my visa?
No. The Bureau de France that opened in Hyderabad in 2024 offers consular help to French nationals and cultural and business liaison; it does not accept visa applications. All French visas for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh go through VFS Punjagutta to the Bengaluru consulate.
I studied in France. Do I qualify for a five-year visa?
If you hold a master's degree or higher and spent at least one semester studying in France, you can request the five-year alumni circulation visa with proof of the degree and your enrolment. The desk files it under the alumni category and adds the supporting documents to the standard Schengen file.
My cousin in Lyon is hosting me. What does the host need to do?
The host applies for an attestation d'accueil at their local town hall, which validates it and returns the original; it is then couriered to you to carry to the appointment, along with a copy of the host's identity document and proof of address. Start this before booking the VFS slot, because the town hall can take days to weeks.
How early can I apply for a France visa from Hyderabad?
You can lodge up to six months before travel and no later than fifteen days before. For June, July or August departures, aim to have the appointment eight to twelve weeks before the trip, because Hyderabad slots fill from April. Off-season files often come back within one to three weeks.
